Volunteering

Our organization welcomes the opportunity to get to know you and your skills.

Volunteers help in a number of different areas:

Education

The Vancouver Maritime Museum is looking for energetic individuals who like working with children and are available during the day. There is no treasure greater then inspiring a young mind. Museum volunteers facilitate education programs for school groups and the general public. Our programs are for students in pre-school to grade 7, and they explore maritime themes including the working harbour, coastal exploration, and boats of all types. Our public programs introduce maritime history, science, and culture to people of all ages through activities, lectures, and demonstrations. Training is provided to all education volunteers.

Curatorial

Working with our collection, archives and library is a big job! Volunteers help with preliminary cataloguing, sorting archival material, numbering artifacts, clerical work, and exhibit installations.

Special Events

Special event volunteers assist with helping guests, giving event info to the public, and a variety of other duties during large special events, exhibit openings, and festivals.
